Something special happens when we give kids time and space outdoors. Their little imaginations wake up and shines in wonder and awe. It really is the best thing to watch.
On this particular day one of my little guys was not very interested in participating. He gets bored easily and does not really bother to look further or give it his attention if he’s made up his mind that he doesn’t want to participate in something. I know this about him so I just brought the wagon and sat him in the back with a juice box and a snack. My other son and I took off on our adventure pulling him behind us.

I don’t really give my son the option of not participating. I try my best to redirect him to do something that suits him and being pulled in the wagon is just fine by him.
Wouldn’t you know we discovered some pretty cool things and he just had to get out of that wagon and explore it for himself. What did we discover? What did find? Can I climb it? Can I stand on it? – This particular park had a raised concrete elevation map. Pretty cool find.

See! Mom does know how to have fun too.
Our kids just have to keep exploring new places to spark the imagination. Any place can serve, maybe its a new park, or forest preserve, local farm or nature center. Even the toughest nuts crack when given free space to play in a rich environment. Sometimes kids like being given a job. Today one of little guys was in charge of the clipboard. We were searching for flowers.
